InterMedia Today
intertwined threads of
nature, society and technology
Together with the Contemporary gallery of Zrenjanin I led the first art residency for
Intermedia practices. The gallery has a long history organizing a traditional Art collony
in the Pavilion Ečka, but this was a pilot exploration into new emerging themes and practices bridging local and international artist.
We worked with the historical site Castle Kaštel Ečka exploring how new and old are bonded, how technology is part of us and nature. Participants engaged with the concept of techno-ecology, exploring how digital tools, lo-fi media and natural elements can co-exist and shape artistic expression.
The program emphasized the use of accessible, low-budget materials and found objects from the environment, encouraging participants to create works that respond to the interconnectedness of ecological systems and technological advances. The thematic focus was on the balance and tension between these forces, inviting artists to explore how art can address the evolving relationship between nature, society and innovation. Participants had to work with the presented field work methods and themes, creating with limited resources, equipment and materials that where offered to challenge them in creative art-making.
The project gathered art students from Technological Faculty Mihajlo Pupin in Zrenjanin and Art Academy in Novi Sad and Belgrade with some guest from professions like engineering and biology.
